April 2004 PGH-AHU Board Meeting Minutes

Meeting: Called to order at 4:20pm
Motion made to accept March 2004 meeting minutes made by Tim Schmid; motion seconded by Doug Moore.
Treasurer’s Report – Not available for this meeting. Must be available for May 2004 meeting.
Committee Reports:
o Membership – 109 members. Identified Scott Tovissi, Cristey Beckert, EJ Heckert, Bob Cagney, Kristin Bartone, and Mark Jurena as potential new members. We are still missing three of the “AWOL” Highmark members. Ken will contact the new head of Sales/Marketing at UPMC Health Plan regarding membership.
o Communications – BenefitsBeat was sent out during the first week of April. Some members are still not receiving it, though. Doug will provide Michelle with the updated PGH-AHU email distribution list. Michelle will make sure she is able to use the info@pgh-ahu.org email account.
o Legislative – CapConference was a great success. Follow up emails were sent to all we visited with. Additional evidence critical of AHP’s was provided to all as well. State Day on the Hill is scheduled for May 25th.
o Programs – See Golf Report below. Planning will begin for our September 2004 membership event at the next Board Meeting.
o Technology – Meeting minutes are up-to-date on site. New articles have been posted.
Old Business:
o Golf Report: Planning is going well. We expect over 100 golfers. Sponsorship revenue is up significantly. Follow up still needed with Highmark and UPMC. Doug will purchase $1,000 worth of prizes from Dick’s Sporting Goods. Don and John will continue to obtain more gift certificates for prizes. Kris will be doing the program.
o Discussed details of the Hart Fundraiser that follows this meeting. Advised Board that we expect about 25 people to attend. We are requesting a HUPAC check in the amount of $1,000 for Melissa’s campaign. Mark Shaffer is following up with HUPAC Board.
