July 2003 PGH-AHU Board Meeting Minutes

I. Called to order at 4:00pm.
II. Attendance: Kris, Doug, Dave, Holly, Don, Ed, Tim, Mark, Chad.
III. Treasurer’s Report
A. Kris’ report and Dave’s Golf Outing analysis were offered in paper format; both are attached.
B. Suggestions were made for improvement of the Golf Outing, including
· Reducing expenses,
· Generating larger fees from carriers, and
· Include all information about next outing in all newsletters.
IV. President’s Report – No Report.
V. Membership Report
· 85 current members / 2 renewed / lost – Chris Connors, James Fiamura (West Penn), Bill Gallagher, Bill Jesserer, Tim Neary, Bill Hibbard, Ray Phillips.
· Discussed importance of each board member recruiting at least ONE new member this year. Also discussed possible membership blitz activities.
· (AI) Tim will call Aetna about national membership and local representation.
· (AI) Tim will print and have ready for review the past due report for each month’s board meeting.
VI. Communications Report
· (AI) Doug will confirm mailing list for BenefitsBeat.
· (AI) Doug will get Ken & Dave set up with PGH-AHU.ORG email addresses.
VII. Legislative Report
· Doug reminded board members about importance and ease of use of Operation Shout! More will be done to encourage its use among all members.
· (AI) Doug will assemble list of all state reps and senators in our area of PA.
· (AI) Doug will set up rep meetings with each of us for our district.
VIII. Programs/Education Report
· Fall CE Meeting being planned.
IX. Technology Report
· Holly is updating the web site. All postings should be sent to President - Ken Herrle – and a copy should be sent to her.
X. Awards Report – No Report.
XI. New Business
· September 12, 13 & 14 – Regional NAHU Leadership Convention.
· Chapter will cover the cost for the registration for State Convention on September 29 & 30. Golf will be 1:30pm on Monday (we have agreed to sponsor donuts & coffee).
