January 2003 PGH-AHU Board Meeting Minutes

Meeting called to order at 4:10pm.
Treasurer
- Sent check for $500 to the Millennium fund, $250 to Marsico, current balance approximately $8,850 final balance.
President
- A survey will be going out to a random segment regarding NAHU services.
- NAHU can do a list bill for company with more then one member.
- There will be a HIPAA compliance seminar “Tele-seminar” offered through NAHU.
- (AI) Mark Schaffer nomination form (Doug).
- (AI) One member of group to attend media seminar at capital conference.
Membership
- 86 members now – goal is 100 members by June 30, 2003.
- New member kits will be distributed at Feb board meeting.
- (AI) Application / membership of board / Benefits Beat newsletter for kits.
- (AI) For Feb meeting, each board member will report on three people to whom we talked regarding membership in Pgh-AHU.
Communications
· Not everyone got last Benefits Beat.
· All board members are encouraged to submit articles.
· (AI) Dave will get information regarding golf outing to Doug by March.
· (AI) Need new Communications chairperson
Legislative
- State day has been changed from 1/29 to 2/25. We are going anyway, because we have appointments already scheduled. Board approved $400 expenditure.
- (AI) Doug sending e-mail to Hill staffers regarding the Vince Phillips Health Insurance 101 class on the 28th.
- Capitol Conference attendees: Ed, Dave, Doug, Ken, Tim and Kevin, 22nd through 25th. (AI) Doug will mail in registrations by 2/7.
- Board approved sending at least one member to San Diego for National Convention in late June. Budget is $1,000 per person.
- Board approved PAHU proposal to create a formal position paper on Medical Malpractice reform in Pennsylvania.
Programs
- Winter Social is 2/11 at the Sports Rock Café. Begins at 5:00pm following our board meeting.
- (AI) Tim will bring new members kits and applications.
- (AI) Kris will provide and manage a sign-in sheet.
- (AI) Kevin will purchase a $25 gift certificate from Dick’s (for raffle).
- Discussed future members education and programming options.
- (AI) Don will call Ken Graham regarding a HRA/MERP program involving CE credits.
Technology
- (AI) Dave will provide golf outing registration information for Mark to post on PGH-AHU web site.
Education – No report.
Awards - No report.
