Please join us for an
up-to-date insider's view of both federal and state
health care reform. We are pleased to have the
following authorities on the subject present to you and
answer all of your questions regarding the current
status of health care reform.
Federal
Reform:
Adam
Brackemyre-Director of State Affairs, NAHU
As Director of State
Affairs, Adam in a unique position to provide us with an update
on Federal Health Care Reform. Adam works closely with NAHU’s
New England, Mid-Atlantic and Midwestern chapters and their
lobbyists. He has been with NAHU since August 2006.
Prior to working for
NAHU, Adam worked at the Council for Affordable Health Insurance
(CAHI) for three years, beginning as a staff assistant and
departing as the assistant director of legislative affairs.
He has a bachelor’s
degree in economics from DePauw University. In his spare time,
he serves as the President of the college’s DC area Alumni
Council and just completed his Masters of Public Policy degree
at George Mason University.
State Reform:
Vince
Phillips-PAHU Lobbyist
Vince is a
registered lobbyist centered in Harrisburg, where he has
represented the needs of insurance agents and brokers since
1989. He has been PAHU’s lobbyist for the past 10 years. His
service also involved advocating for the former Big I
(property/casualty agencies) and NAIFA-PA.
Some issues on which
he has worked besides almost every health insurance issue facing
General Assembly include the banks in insurance, producer
licensing reform and Workers’ Compensation reforms. In addition
to lobbying, his firm offers over 71 approved CE courses for PA
agents.
He holds an MPA from
the Maxwell School of Syracuse University, an MA from the
University of Notre Dame, a BA from Indiana University South
Bend and a graduate Certificate in Public Policy from Indiana
University’s School of Public and Environmental Affairs.
Vince is a former
press secretary and held positions in the Regan Administration
as well as serving on President Reagan’s transition team in
1980.
