Don’t miss what will probably be your best opportunity
to make your voice heard on health care reform! On
Monday August 31st the Pittsburgh Association of Health
Underwriters (PGH-AHU) is hosting a Health Care Reform
“Meet & Greet” with Congressman Jason Altmire. Jason
will deliver comments about the current state of health
care reform legislation and offer his opinion on its
prospects moving forward. He will then be available to
answer questions and speak personally with you.
The event will be held at Willow Restaurant on Camp
Horne Road, just off I-279. Jason will be at the event
from 5 – 6 p.m. We expect to begin promptly to allow for
us much time for questions and personal interaction as
possible. We welcome you to stay later to discuss health
care reform with your fellow insurance professionals.
Jason is a member of the “Blue Dog” Democrats in the
House of Representatives. As you likely know, the Blue
Dogs are major players in the health care reform debate.
It has been widely suggested any health care reform
proposal can not be passed without them. Jason’s
background in the health care industry, prior to his
election to Congress in 2006, has made him a prominent
and respected voice within the Democratic Party, and the
Blue Dog caucus in particular, on health care reform.
Members of the PGH-AHU met with Jason back in July to
share our opinions about health care reform. There have
been significant developments in the process since then.
As a prominent stakeholder in the health insurance
delivery system we need to show strong support for our
positions and offer Jason, as well as other Members of
Congress, real solutions to improving access and quality
in our health care system. Please join us in
demonstrating to Jason just how committed health
insurance professionals are to making a positive
difference.
We are asking all guests to make a contribution to
Jason’s campaign. While you may not be a constituent of
Jason’s, have voted for him, or agree with his politics
it is still very worthwhile to make a financial
contribution. Jason has been very accessible to
representatives of the health insurance industry and has
been an important moderating voice in the reform debate.
We are very pleased he agreed to come and speak directly
with us.
Please RSVP for the event by August 24th. “Walk-ins” are
welcome but it will be very helpful to have an accurate
head count so we can order the appropriate amount of
food and set the room up properly.
